What it covers

  • Physical loss or damage to the works during erection and installation
  • Testing and commissioning periods, where included in the policy
  • Existing surrounding property and third-party liability extensions where agreed
  • Maintenance or defects-liability periods where arranged

Commonly excluded

  • Defective design, material or workmanship, subject to the cover option selected
  • Wear, gradual deterioration and corrosion
  • Consequential loss, penalties and liquidated damages
  • Losses excluded by the specific policy wording

Eligibility

  • Defined project scope, site, contract value and programme
  • Acceptable contractor experience and method statements
  • Site conditions and natural-hazard exposure acceptable to underwriters

How a claim works

  1. 01Make the site safe and notify insurers immediately
  2. 02Preserve damaged items and photograph the scene
  3. 03Cooperate with the appointed loss adjuster
  4. 04Submit costings, contract documents and a repair or replacement plan
